Target audience

Employees involved in process of design, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of an MPI or PROFIBUS DP network connected to SIMATC S7 PLC’s. For example: SIMATIC installers and programmers, as well as service and maintenance employees.

Required knowledge

S7-PROG1, S7-SYSTEM module or a similar level of knowledge and experience.

• PROFIBUS DP-Master components:
  • S7-300 / 400 CPUs / CP 342-5 / CP 443-5 Extended.
• PROFIBUS DP slaves components:
  • ET200B / C / L / M / SC / R / S / X / Pro / Eco.
• Network design with STEP7 software:
  • CPUs with PROFIBUS DP interface as master;
  • PROFIBUS CP as Master (CP342-5 / CP443-5 Extended);
  • ET200 slave stations;
  • S7-300 / 400 CPU as an intelligent slave station;
  • Working with non-Siemens-slave stations;
  • Commissioning of the MPI and PROFIBUS DP network;
• Troubleshooting the MPI and PROFIBUS DP bus via:
